You're not alone - It wasn't your fault - We're here to help
Youth Empowering Society (YES) Committee
Become a youth leader on your school campus and within your community. As a member of the Youth Empowering Society (YES) Committee, you will work with Project Sister staff and other youth to learn about violence prevention. You will have the opportunity to use creative ways of teaching your peers and community members how to reduce the risk and trauma of sexual abuse and child abuse; while also providing resources to those in need. Bring your leadership skills, enthusiasm, creativity, and ideas to this group.
As a member of YES you will…
Be trained to be a peer resource on healthy relationships, consent, dating and child abuse so you can talk to your peers who are unsure about their relationships or are concerned about their safety in their relationships.
Design and implement activities and/or event(s) in the community to raise awareness about sexual assault and child abuse.
Meet 1-2 times per month in Pomona (time TBD) and commit 2-4 hours to work on projects outside of meetings per month.
Receive community service hours, credit for Service Learning or Senior Projects, and can earn a letter of recommendation for college applications after a 1-year commitment.
Create long lasting relationships with fellow youth leaders and begin a networking group.
This opportunity is open to all high school students, ages 13-18! If you are interested, please fill out the online application and/or contact Christina Jimenez at cjimenez@projectsister.org or 909-623-1619 ext. 111.
